Knowing what pictures to post on your online dating profile can be difficult, especially if it’s your first time making a profile. While you may post all sorts of photos on your social media profiles with little regard for their content, the online dating scene requires a bit more attention to detail when it comes to selecting the perfect pictures. You don’t want to post numerous pictures of your dog, but you also don’t want to reveal too much of yourself before the time is right. Some things just aren’t meant to be seen right away. Posting the right pictures on your dating profile can make the difference between being ignored and getting a successful encounter.
Though it may seem tempting to ‘put it all out there’, so to speak, it’s never a good idea to post nude photographs on your dating profile. First of all, you never know who may be able to find your profile, and if you can think of any single person that you don’t want seeing your whole shebang, you should avoid posting the photos online. Secondly, having naked pictures on your profile will not leave a good impression on the women who visit your profile more often than not. It might make you seem a bit creepy if you already have your body out there for them to see, and it could give them a bad impression. Not only that, but it’s always good to leave a little bit of mystery to keep things exciting rather than having everything there to see upfront.
Variety and Honesty
While you may not be in the habit of taking selfies on a regular basis, you need variety on your profile. You want a solid few photos that show off your good side while being fairly true to what you really look like. Nobody likes meeting up in person only to find that the real deal looks significantly different from how they appeared in their photos. Feel free to make use of flattering camera angles or lighting types but try to avoid using photos of yourself from years ago, even if they do seem more attractive to you.
Try not to have all of your photos be of the same angle or show basically the same thing, as this can make it obvious you’re trying to play up to the camera. Use a variety of pictures that show you being yourself and having a good time, especially if you’re laughing or smiling in them!
Keep It Real
Even if you’re a pro photographer, you want to keep your profile pictures realistic. This means it’s probably for the best if you leave the moody black-and-white glamour shots off your page and leave the Photoshop filters for someone else to play with. If a woman visits your page only to see that most of your photographs look incredibly staged or manipulated, she may feel like she’s not going to get the real you. Having genuine pictures on your profile will go a long way towards making her feel comfortable with you.
